INFINITY, featuring a new work by Gideon Obarzanek

Chunky Move Artistic Director, Gideon Obarzanek explores the psychology of ballet through his striking contemporary lense in There's Definitely a Prince Involved as part of The Australian Ballet's Infinity program. This new work will engineer a marriage between his technologically daring contemporary work and his classical beginnings. Obarzanek asks a wide range of people, “What is ballet?” Their surprising, touching and hilarious answers form the basis of the new work.

Completing the triple bill are works by Stephen Page, who leads a new collaboration between Bangarra Dance Theatre and The Australian Ballet in Warumuk – in the dark night, and Graeme Murphy, who strips ballet back to its bare essentials in The Narrative of Nothing.

The Australian Ballet are offering Chunky Move subscribers an early bird offer to receive 20% off tickets to Infinity. Simply use the promo code MOVE when booking.*

*Offer available for Adult-priced tickets in all seating reserves, except D Reserve, until Wednesday 15 February.

ACMI's Focus on Raj Kapoor

Actor, director and mogul Raj Kapoor was one of the giants of Indian cinema and is synonymous with the rise of the monolith known as Bollywood. Deriving his screen persona from the smirk and swagger of Clark Gable, the heightened emotions and showmanship of Gene Kelly, and, most importantly, the underdog heroism and pathos of Charlie Chaplin, Kapoor rapidly became the biggest superstar in Indian cinema. Meanwhile, his stylistic innovations as a director—from the gritty neorealism of his early films, to his introduction of epic-length musical numbers, to the eye-popping, Technicolor delirium of his more commercially-minded late period - helped set the template for the Bollywood films of today.
